The
Role of Technology in the 21st Century of Education
According
to a famous saying, “change is the only permanent thing in this world.” As time
goes by, a lot of things undergo several changes, may it be in terms of the
personality of a person, economic status and even technology. The evolution of
technology has already undergone a lot of changes from the time when fire was
first invented up to this very moment wherein a number of inventions through
technology have arisen. As a matter of fact, technology has always been present
in our everyday lives. Everything we see in our house, those buildings in the
streets and the things we use in order for our work to become easier came from
the innovations of technology. And as every century has passed, the impact of
technology in our lives becomes heavier down to this very day where we are now
in the 21st century.
The
role of technology in the 21st century has been widely recognized by
everyone and this has been very useful to us especially in the fields of work,
agriculture and education. Almost all the schools and universities around the
world have already adapted the use of technology through having computers on
each classroom, projectors and other digitals which are very functional to the
learning of their students. Through technology, the students have become constantly
connected with to their peers, classmates, and teachers. They can have instant
access to the happenings on their schools, such us their upcoming school
activities and events. Technology in the form of computers could also be a
source of knowledge for students through the access of internet wherein they
could easily grasp information for something they are curios or interested to
learn more. Since a lot of schools have already adapted the use of technology
in the classroom, the ways of teaching students has also changed from the
traditional way of teaching to a more student-centered teaching in which the
teacher becomes the facilitator in the class and the students are given the
privilege to learn the lesson through in-depth discussion around their groups
and basically uses project-based learning. In this manner, the students are
taught and trained to become independent on their own so that when they get to
work, they are very ready to compete globally especially to this modern times
where technology has become increasingly digital and high-end.
The
role of technology in the 21century education is very essential and valuable
not only to the students of today but also to the students of tomorrow because
they could become effective learners and communicators of their generation. And
when they become effective communicators, they are able to create something new
out of their creative imagination that would lead them to their success.
Furthermore, they could be globally competitive and are able to communicate
across the whole world, joining forces with different foreign people from other
countries towards reaching one common goal.
There would still have many
changes to be undergone by technology but as long as there are enough knowledge
and initiative skills, an individual can surpass the changes of technology.
